A dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed into the jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge in place or to provide support for a denture. They can be used to replace a single missing tooth, multiple missing teeth, support a denture or restore an entire mouth. The teeth attached to the dental implants are very natural looking and enhance or restore the patient's smile.

implant-2.jpgImplants are made of titanium.  The body does not reject titanium unlike other metals.  Titanium is very strong and is biologically inert.

Following the extraction of a tooth, the supporting bone begins to shrink in both height and width.  Even if the bone shrinkage has been excessive, an implant may still be an option.  Depending on the situation, Dr. Corbett may be able to grow back the lost bone using regenerative procedures so that an implant can be placed.

Reasons for dental implants

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth
  • Prevent bite problems caused by shifting or drifting teeth
  • Create a confident smile
  • Restore normal chewing, speech and digestion
  • Restore and enhance facial structures
  • Support a bridge or a denture, making it more comfortable

Did you know that;denture guy.jpg

  • 20% of people without teeth do not wear both dentures?
  • 7% of people without teeth are not able to wear their dentures at all?
  • 88% of denture wearers have difficulty with speech?
